Till some time back, I used to feel social media detox/ planned or scheduled breaks were a little
overhyped. But social media does become overwhelming at times. With our lives exposed like
exhibitions, only the good parts and highs are shown. So the viewers/followers/friends fail to
understand the BTS - Behind The Scenes of all the efforts and hardships that went behind achieving
them. This is one of the reasons why the rate of anxiety is increasing among people these days.
I learned it the hard way, but people, understand. Not everyone has it all happy and happening all
the time. They too have their downtimes and lows. Unfortunately, many do not post about it. Because
the ones who do are judged to be attention seekers. This is a modern stereotype we should be
breaking from now on. At least we can decide to not be influenced or impacted by whatever we see on
social media. We should be so headstrong and content at heart that someone else posting their highs
makes us happy for them and inspires us to work on our goals.
