Love - simply the most complicated feeling.

A few days back, a friend called up. We were talking. We are very well acquainted with our families. So, I casually asked about her brother. She started with, "He is doing well. He just got a promotion, so his career is good. He has been going on an international trip every year. But we are not able to find a suitable bride for him."

"Oh, why so?"

"You see, girls these days do not want to adjust at all. They prefer the nuclear family over in-laws..."

"Wait. Wasn't that one of the criteria when you were the prospective bride?", I tried to remind her.



She may have bit her lips in embarrassment because that was the truth.

While looking for a love/partner, we expect them to have no conditions while carrying a long list ourselves. Not fair, right?

Also, please do not go by the gender perspectives mentioned above. It applies to everyone equally. My definition of love was very different as a young girl and is different today. At that time, I used to think, that if there were any reasons or conditions, it is not love. But over the years, I have understood, that it is obvious to have expectations once in a relationship, it comes with the label, the tag itself. Be it husband-wife, boyfriend-girlfriend, or even friend. What is imperative to understand is that not all of your conditions or expectations will always be met, and you also do not have to give in to every demand of theirs. There is a middle way always. Sometimes understand and the rest of the time ignore, if you are truly determined to keep the relationship going.
