Have you ever wondered why, in today's world, chats are more effective than face-to-face
conversations? Because, while on a chat, we take time to respond. We think of how it will sound/read
better, and even if we are trying to put our opinion, which is different from the other person's, we
take a moment to understand their perspective. All of this rarely happens in face-to-face
communication. We listen, but only to respond, to think about our reply, and to prove our point, as
if it were not communication; It was a race of who knocked out the other first.
If the person really matters, then there should be no hurry to prove your point, sooner or later
they will realize/understand it. You should control sometimes, because, relationships may get into
ashes in the heat of the moment, and there can be permanent damage that spoils the essence of the
communication.
So decide, if you would want to listen to respond or listen to understand.
