Village: It's so hot! Just the beginning of March and we are sweating. All because of city people.
Your urge to grow and progress fast has impacted us innocents so badly, despite us being negligibly
involved in it. We still have to take the brunt."
City: We sweat all year round. There is nothing wrong with it. And if you find our progress so
problematic, why do your people try to move to the city so desperately? Isn't that wrong?
Village: You successfully manage to lure them with your comfort, luxury, and glamour. By the time
they realize what will be the consequences of their act right now, it will be too late.
City: The farmers either sell their lands and relocate to cities or are neck-deep drown in debt and
end up committing suicide. In either case, villages lose people to live in them. Till the time
progress does not come to villages, this will keep happening. Have you thought about your plan of
action?
Village: I genuinely do not have any plan of action. Your definition of progress is different than
mine. My progress does not harm others in its growth. Your's does. Cutting forests and making
concrete jungles is inviting global warming. Heat increases by 1° C or 2° C every year. Rains have
become unpredictable, which has caused huge losses to farmers. For now, people are choosing you. But
I know, one day, farming will be a respectable profession and a village address will be a sign of
pride.
News Flash:
“There has been a multifold increase in the number of applicants for different courses in
agriculture colleges of India. Last year we received close to 5 lakh applications across agriculture
universities of India as against the average 84,000 to 1 lakh applications normally. The
girl-student ratio has also increased to 49 percent from around 23 percent in agriculture
universities, said Dr RC Agrawal, deputy director general (agricultural Education), ICAR.
He said a total of 6,000 seats are reserved under ICAR across various agriculture universities in
India. (11/03/24)
Village: Hahaha!! See, I just said! And now I will not have to wait for that day. I am telling you
again, that harming others in our way of progress is not the REAL progress. Remember that always!
