Breakfast is a meal I have been strictly advised not to skip, no matter what. Growing up, my grandma
never let anyone leave the house without a meal. Back then, it never used to be fancy, not even
until 2021. From 2021, breakfast has become our WE time as a couple. After our not-so-little one
leaves for school, we decide to explore options, be it cooking at home, ordering, or eating out
breakfast has now become a special meal for us. There is no fixed pattern we follow, but twice a
week I do not cook breakfast. This ritual has helped us explore each other's choices better. We both
are not fussy or picky eaters, we are ready to experiment, but that comes with a basic term of the
place being hygienic. We had breakfast at a roadside stall run by a family to gourmet places in
between my X-ray appointments, that is the range of our experiments!
I started mentoring school children in creative writing a year and a half ago. So, on the days I
have classes, on my way back home, I go alone to the place of my choice, order food of my choice,
and have it all alone. It has been such a liberating feeling; It left me feeling empowered for the
first time after I embraced motherhood. I know this would sound like a very silly thing to do, but
it has served as the cheapest therapy for me! Hence, I go on solo breakfast dates whenever I feel
like it. So, if next time you find me chilling at any cafe, don't be surprised, instead join me!
I have been advocating solo breakfast dates by posting pictures from my solo adventures on Instagram
stories, my followers first found it weird. But a couple of them tried it and thanked me! So you
should try it too if you haven't already.
Never skip or miss breakfast. Happy eating!
All the pictures are originally clicked by me either from our breakfast dates or my solo breakfast
dates.
