Arunima has a distinct style of working. She knows each one from the Aanchal Family personally. 60
of them, a 63-year-old thrown out of the house by her son, a 3-day newborn baby found on the corner
of the street, a 34-year-old who was not accepted by the marital side of her family after her
divorce from her abusive husband and the list goes on and on. Aanchal is run by all these women, who
cook for themselves, run the place efficiently, also earn a small amount from the skills they know,
and Arunima, like a guiding light is always there to guide them.
It was Roshani's third day at Aanchal. Arunima was trying to bring a big order for the upcoming
festive season to Aanchal, and all the meetings around the same kept her too occupied to strike up a
conversation with Roshani personally. Roshani had already shared the description of the 5 men who
raped her with the relevant artist in Sarthak's presence. She wanted to know an update on the same.
Roshani called Sarthak to get an update but he was too busy in finding the rapists that he failed to
keep in touch. Roshani felt unnoticed and of least importance. Just when she was about to make peace
with whatever happened, Arunima found her sitting on an armchair on the verandah. She grabbed a cane
charpoy and sat adjacent to Roshani. It started with "How are you now?" and lasted for about 4
hours! Arunima tried her best to convince Roshani not to give up or settle with whatever happened.
Nothing less than seeing the culprits being punished should satisfy her, is what Arunima said.
The next morning Sarthak called Roshani to update her on the happenings. 2 of the 5 men were
arrested and the search for the rest of the 3 was still on. A little hope but that was enough to
convince Roshani, "Sometimes it is okay not to make peace. We should never settle for less, voice
out our opinions, and always fight ourselves. We also seek peace, but those who create havoc in our
peaceful paradise deserve relevant punishment."
