The other day, I was talking to my mom over the phone and she heard me yelling at my son. She let me finish and immediately announced, "You should talk to your child like this. He will grasp your tone and will reciprocate it. You should be careful when dealing with him." I quietly let her finish and then asked her, "Where was all this gyaan hidden when she was raising us?!", I was trying to be funny but it did not go well with her.

The next time we all met, I teamed up with my brother and we tried to pull mom's leg, the context being parenting. I was animatedly narrating what happened on the call that day. My brother jumped in adding the much-needed tadka to the conversation stating, "We did not have smartphones back then mummy, that's why you are safe. Else we could have successfully proven whatever you are saying now conveniently contradicts what you have done in the past." And then, for a change, there was no flying chappal received, only dead silence and suspicious looks.
