For personal reasons, do you ever transform your daily grind into something quirky? Maybe to make a
tense situation lighter? Or to normalize some bitter truths? Or to celebrate small wins? To simply
enjoy life? I strongly believe that we don't always speak our minds because of manners, etiquette,
adulation, and other such reasons. But imagine having a space where you have all the above questions
answered, you may be thinking, probably in your head? NO, in a book.
That's "My Jeans Fit Well and My Icecream did not Melt" for you by none other than Manali Desai.
Those who know her closely will be less surprised by the statements and comment bubbles that she has
written in the book. Because we communicate that with her daily, I do. What will surprise you is the
smart use of AI in generating those quirky images, which perfectly go with the text she has written.
I can only imagine the time, patience, and effort that have gone into making each image a 100%
replica of the original incidents that have happened with her. You are now a certified AI prompt
engineer, my friend!
I am deliberately not sharing the screenshots from this graphically appealing book; I don't want to
be a spoil sport. But the statements that stayed with me are:
1) They should send every package and parcel in bubble wraps to make customers like me order more
stuff. Wait, should I patent that idea?
2) You flex about shoestring travels, I flex about shoestring shopping sprees. We're not the same
3) Doom scrolling while secretly wondering why my content doesn't get that much reach
4) Caught in a jam, strawberry one, in Mahabaleshwar (this was personal!)
5) Responsibility called - I hit decline (I want this for one day)
6) Venting > Therapy (This I have experienced with you, Manali)
7) The joy is in not burning down the house. The success in cake-making is secondary. ( I have given
up on baking. So everyone who can, I am their fan already.)
8) Time to update my hobbies list and include 'aggressively relaxing' on top, in BOLD (wanna add one
day of this too!)
9) If only I could be paid for the number of times I predicted the correct outcome, I'd be making
more money than I do as a writer.
10) Excuse me while I spontaneously stop for earrings, cute tops, or even snacks. (This is us, for
sure!)
Manali's book is all set to normalize so many behavioural traits which we ourselves find weird or
ones which could not be accepted publicly. And that's the beauty of this book. A world where
everyone is chasing perfection and aesthetics, she welcomed you to the world of vulnerability and
acceptance. Plus, it's appealing because it's a graphic book, no gyaan - pure fun.
