I read this book in 2023 but forgot to share my experience of reading it; hence, I thought, "Better
late than never!" So, here I am!
"Tales from Moonlit Hearts" by Soumya Bharathi is a beautifully composed anthology of seven short
love stories, each exploring a distinct facet of love, such as attraction, longing, passion,
companionship, comfort, regret, and immortality.
Her narrative is gentle and melodiously poetic, often prefacing stories with evocative verses that
set the tone for the deep journeys within.
The collection delves into multiple shades of love—ranging from the hesitant blossoming of romance
in an arranged marriage, the ache of first love, the healing comfort of established relationships,
to the bittersweet nostalgia and loss that come with time.
Each story is distinct yet unified by Soumya's sensitive commentary on the joys, complexities, and
evolution of the heart. She possesses a writing style that is subtle, elegant, and full of hope,
making the stories feel grounded in real but touched with magic. The stories are progressive in
nature and have unconventional endings.
Soumya's language is lyrical and emotionally resonant, with narratives that flow seamlessly and
invite a comforting atmosphere, akin to "sailing in a calm river" or savoring a "perfectly brewed
cup of coffee". The prose is crisp, and the emotional undercurrents are delivered with sincerity and
warmth. Each story is brief yet impactful, making the book a quick, immersive read—ideal for a
relaxing afternoon or a quiet evening.
The stories are noteworthy for their relatable scenarios and authentic voices. Each tale is enhanced
with poetic introductions, adding a unique charm. The book focuses on subtler emotions rather than
dramatic twists, and this virtue in writing style sets it apart as a feel-good, heartfelt
collection.
"Tales from Moonlit Hearts" is recommended for those seeking a return to tender, uncomplicated, yet
nuanced romance. With its poetic storytelling and comforting narratives, Soumya Bharathi’s
collection offers both solace and joy, serving as an uplifting escape in uncertain times. Multiple
reviewers rate the book highly, generally awarding it around 4 out of 5 stars, and praise its
ability to touch even the most guarded of hearts.
